Why Should I Be Baptized?

Christian water baptism is an ordinance instituted by Jesus Christ, and it is important in the plan of God. Christ and the apostles showed the importance of this ordinance by observing it. Jesus walked many miles to be baptized, though He was without sin.

…and this water symbolizes baptism that now saves you also—not the removal of dirt from the body, but the pledge of a clear conscience toward God. It saves you through the resurrection of Jesus Christ. 1 Peter 3:21

When Should I Be Baptized?

Since baptism is a public profession of faith in Jesus Christ, it should be performed after one understands the Gospel, experiences God’s grace, and responds to it through faith in Jesus Christ. Baptism performed prior to these three things is representative if something other than new life in Christ and falls short of what Jesus calls us to do.

How Should I Be Baptized?

There are two major answers to the question, “How?” in regards to Baptism.   1. In the name of Jesus 2. By Immersion: The word “baptize” literally refers to some form of immersion in water. Every Baptism in Scripture was performed in this way.

…be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins… Acts 2:38

As Jesus was baptized, He went up out of the water. Matthew 3:16
